Put simply, Instagram is a social networking app made for sharing photos and videos from a smartphone. Similar to Facebook or Twitter, once you have created an account you have a profile and a news feed. The use of hashtags allows for easy searching and the ability to utilise trending topics. This social media platform is designed for use on a mobile phone. While you can view your newsfeed on a desktop, you can’t upload or share photos here.

With the move towards paid engagement on Facebook increasing dramatically, more and more businesses are looking to Instagram as a marketing tool.
